As the envisaged terminal date of the administration of Obaseki draws closer, political parties, interest groups, individuals and stakeholders are jostling for a replacement.

Interestingly, there is a growing consensus embedded in the consciousness of fair minded individuals that the next governor of Edo state should be of Esan extraction for obvious reasons.

Expectedly, many interested individuals and politicians from that axis have indicated interest and are warming up for the contest. 

Edo not being inoculated or immuned from the profound national crisis, notably in the economic and security spheres, dilapidated infrastructure, gross unemployment, therefore, is in dire need of a Manager of men and resources who can re-engineer the socio-economic and political dynamics to engender social basic needs such as food security, housing and security of lives and property of the citizens.

Unfortunately, it has been observed that democracy most often times throw up the wrong people for such sensitive positions of leadership as governors and Presidents of nations.

We must therefore, at this critical time in our history as a people in search of an enduring legacy of hope, peace , unity and sustainable socio economic partway, engender conscious and concerted efforts to midwife democracy such that it doesn't throw up the wrong leaders, as such wrong choice has significant far reacting detrimental and overriding effect on the polity and consequently on the lives of the citizens.

It is however such an unfortunate drama in Nigeria politics as power is relational and often an emotive transaction where issues of capacity, antecedents
